Girls Weekend Getaway at The Biltmore Hotel Miami

November 28, 2017

Finding the perfect girls getaway location can be challenging. Don’t worry, I’m here to make that a little easier for you and tell you all about one of my favorite Miami spots for an epic girls weekend!

When you think of Miami —  beaches, exotic people and Will Smith’s 1997 hit song Welcome to Miami probably come to mind. But in reality, Miami is home to so much more—including a vibrant arts scene, rich Latin culture and some seriously beautiful spots, besides South Beach, to spend an afternoon or weekend. By all means, visit the beaches, nightclubs and sing along to all those famous Miami tunes, but be sure to experience the rest of the city for an accurate view of what Miami is all about.

Check into The Biltmore Hotel

The Biltmore Hotel is as classy as a girls weekend getaway can get. If you’re looking for an adventure filled weekend away from the typical tourist scene, then grab your girlfriends and bikinis—there are few getaways more perfect than this!

The luxe quarters include rooms, several suite types and 3-bedroom penthouses. All have feather bedding, 340-thread-count Egyptian cotton duvet covers, sitting areas, and picture windows with golf course, pool or cityscape views. Amenities include a full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, a tennis center, a 10,000-sq-ft fitness center and a 21,000-sq-ft outdoor pool. Fine and casual dining options are available on-site.

History Behind The Biltmore Hotel

About a thirty minute drive from Miami Beach and a 15 minute drive from Miami International Airport, you will find The Biltmore Hotel. The Biltmore is located in Coral Gables and hasn’t always been a hotel. It was built in 1926 by George Merrick, the founder of Coral Gables. The hotel was known to host glamorous fashion shows, galas, golf tournaments and water shows in what was then the largest pool in the world. After World War II, the federal government transformed The Biltmore into a military hospital. Once the war was over, it continued to function as a hospital for veterans. In 1952, the University of Miami turned The Biltmore into a medical school. Shortly after, in 1968, the hospital closed and The Biltmore was left abandoned until 1983. At that time, the city of Coral Gables invested $55 million into renovating The Biltmore and the hotel reopened in 1987 and was restored to glory. Today, the Biltmore is known as one of the most historic and luxury hotels in Miami.
