The Ultimate Luxury Cabana Experience

September 10, 2017

Aruba is known for its beautiful beaches and warm waters, and if you’re looking for a place to soak in the sun, relax, and be pampered, you’ll find it at the private island of The Renaissance Aruba. Being surrounded by flamingos is just one of the unique experiences to enjoy at the Renaissance Aruba Private Island. Read about how to visit Flamingo Beach here.

While a full day at Flamingo Beach is luxurious enough on its own, you can take it up a notch and rent one of their private ocean-front cabanas for the entire day for the ultimate beach experience. Keep on reading to see how you can experience this swanky cabana.

How Much Does it Cost to Rent a Private Cabana?

First you must decide which beach you would like to rent a cabana at: Flamingo Beach (adults exclusive) or Iguana Beach. Be advised Flamingo Beach is an adults only beach so children are not allowed, meaning you can only rent a cabana at Iguana beach if you have children in your group.

How to Rent a Private Cabana?

In order to rent a private cabana, you must be a guest at The Renaissance Aruba. If renting a cabana is important to you than you must stay at the resort. If you are not a guest at the resort, you may still visit Flamingo and Iguana Beach for a fee. The fee is about $125 USD per adult, children 5-12 years of age are $63, children under 4 are free. Pricing includes a meal and drink.

For cabana rentals, you must book directly through the hotel using their online booking system. You will pre-pay via credit card and receive confirmation and receipt of payment from the hotel via email.  Contact at navigator@arubarenaissance.com for all cabana or booking questions. Click here to check cabana availability and book your cabana directly through the hotel. You must have your hotel confirmation booking number in order to book a cabana online. You can not book a cabana without this information so you must book your stay prior to booking a cabana.

Note: Advance reservations are requested. I would suggest reserving months in advance as cabanas are limited and book quickly.

What to Expect?

Once you enter the private quarters of your island home you can expect to have THE BEST DAY!

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere right? We settled in and then opened our cooler of goodies and popped a bottle of bubbly to get the day started!

Note: Each cabana has a flag that you raise and it summons one of the attentive cabana hosts, who can provide refills if you run out of towels, drinks, or would like to order any additional food. Our hosts checked on us several times during the day just to make sure we had everything we needed, but were never intrusive.

My husband and I spent the entire day sipping on cocktails, enjoying the view, sunbathing on our over the water hammock and snorkeling occasionally.

The over the water hammock was one of my favorite places in the cabana. It was so relaxing and comfy and reminded me of one of those hammocks you see in the Maldives.

After lunch, I enjoyed some more sunbathing while swinging on the cabanas private hammock.

While the cabanas do not have any speakers for music, it’s very easy to provide your own music. We brought our own Bose mini speaker and were able to play music from our phones, which was great and really added to our experience. I personally enjoy listening to music while at the beach.

Towards the end of the day, as the sun started to set, a part of me wished that there were more than 24 hours in a day. I was not ready to leave our cabana and actually considered inquiring about purchasing one and taking up permanent residence. Seriously! Who would ever want to leave this paradise?!

Would I Recommend Renting a Private Cabana?

HELL YEAH!!!!!! Two words: Comfort and convenience. You’re on vacation right? Treat yourself! There’s no racing to be the first off the boat to snag one of the few hammocks on the island or that perfect oceanfront sun lounger under an umbrella. You don’t have to remember to pack anything because it’s all included. You have a shaded space to store your belongings, your own personal shower to rinse off and clean up after a swim, and a nice cool place to enjoy lunch and just watch the ocean. Our cabana experience was far more than what we expected! Most people who visit Aruba would tell you to visit Flamingo Beach for the flamingos, however I will tell you to visit Flamingo Beach for the ultimate luxury cabana experience!

        1. Hi Tracy,

I believe only the bigger cabana at the end has the round hammock chair. All cabanas have a laying hammock attached, but not a round hanging hammock chair. Hope that helps.

  1. This literally looks like my mothership. This is exactly the kind of stuff I LOVE! I pinned for later, hubby and I have talkedabout Aruba as a destination for our next kid free trip. I also love your swim suit!

  2. I just love your swimsuit!! Great blog highlighting the paradise that is Aruba. I’ve never been but I’m so tempted with the flamingos and clear water.

  3. This looks like such a relaxing day. I’m usually too cheap to go for something like this, but it would be a fun splurge. That over-the-water hammock looks perfect!

  4. I’m honeymooning here in June so I have really enjoyed your posts! You did the Cabana 1, the nicer more private one? Any other tips? 🙂

    1. That’s awesome Amber! You’re going to love it! They are all awesome and yes, cabana one is more private with the swing! Get there early to make the most of your day in the cabana.

    1. Good question Suzanne! I don’t know. Lol. Cause I never went to use the restroom, but I can’t imagine they are that far away!

  5. Hi Christine!
I read your article and i have loved it.
I Willy be traveling the next month in Aruba and i wanted to ask you, how do i book the cabana on the island?
    What is the total price?
I have reservation in another hotel, not in the Renaissance.

    Thank you.
    Greetings from Uruguay.

    Noel

    1. Thank you so much Noel. If you would like to rent a cabana, you should contact the hotel directly and ask to speak to the front desk coordinator, Leidy. She can assist you in booking a cabana. Also, you could send a general email inquiry through the hotel website and they will direct the message to someone who can help you. Best of luck! Enjoy your trip!

  6. Oh wow! I’ve just fallen in love with this – it looks absolutely stunning! I love the idea of being on a over-water hammock, and the little touches, like your name being engraved into the sand, are so cute. Definitely saving this for later!

  7. Wow, that looks so tranquil, I’d love to rent one of those cabanas. And how amazing does Flamingo beach look? I also love your swimming costume 🙂

    1. Oh no, what a shame! I believe they have been there for sometime, but become increasingly popular in the past few years. My swimsuit is from Zaful!

  8. wow those cabanas look amazing! Seems like you had a perfect holiday day, just laying down and relaxing! I can’t wait to visit Aruba soon especially that flamingo beach! And now I will def consider renting this cabanas! Thanks for sharing!

  9. Thanks so much for all the pictures and information about the cabanas Christina!

I am leaving in two weeks for our stay at the Renaissance and have Cabana #1 booked and paid for. Looking forward to an amazing experience.

I just have one question for you. I see that they offer some food. What did they give you during your stay?

    1. How exciting! You’re going to have an amazing time! When I was there we were offered a variety of fruits and snacks. In addition, we purchased some appetizers, which were delicious.

  10. At first I thought the price was a little steep. But after seeing the over-water hammock and the fresh fruit, I figured it would be a great honeymoon expense!

  11. I don’t know just about the cabana I want to be on this trip! I agree though renting it would be worth it. While on vacation I always allow for one full day of beach and relaxation. Cabana and in style sounds amazing.

  12. Hi we are honeymooning at Bucuti in June 2018 and we would love to do this! I was reading about the pricing breakdown on your site and was a little confused and didn’t know if you could explain further.
Is the total pricing (for the cabana for up to 4) $150 + an additional $99 if your a non guest? Or is the $99 included in the $150? And also was it an additional price for seeing the flamingos or was that included in the price for the cabana for the day as well? I was trying to figure out if it was $150 + additional $99 + price for the flamingos for non-guests?
    Thanks for your help!

    1. There are two different cabana options. One is $150 (for up to 4 guests) and the other is $200 (for up to 6 guests) plus a $99 fee if you’re not a guest at the hotel. The Cabanas are on Flamingo Beach so the flamingos walk around the island. I would email the hotel for more information.

  13. I am trying to rent a cabana for a trip this year (dates flexible) do you happen to have a specific email, phone number, travel agent, or way for me to reserve one? We are willing to stay a few nights at that hotel, as I am reading they are giving preferential treatment to guests of the hotel. Thanks!

    1. Hey Allison, I don’t have specific contact information, I would call the hotel and ask them, they are very helpful. Im not sure if they do give preference to hotel guests over non hotel guests, but if you book in advance they should be able to accommodate you!

      1. Thanks!! I called them and you have to book a night wth them to book a cabana right now so I’ll be doing all this in the next month. I’m very excited!!

        1. Yay! Glad to hear that! It’s a beautiful hotel and definitely worth staying there to visit the flamingos and rent a cabana!

  14. Did you have the private cabana at the end of the row? I heard that one is amazing with a private swing or something?

    1. Yes! The one at the end does have a swing, accommodates more people and has a bigger deck area. It costs a little bit more than the others.

        1. Hi Daphne, as stated in my post, prices vary according to season and are subject to change. I visited in September 2017 and pricing was much less at that time. Thank you for letting me know, as I will update the pricing in this post, however I would recommend contacting the resort for the most updated pricing.

  15. Hi Christine! Your post has been very helpful in helping decide if we wanted to rent the over the water Cabana while staying at the resort in Aruba. It looks like paradise and renting the Cabana would be an added bonus especially for our first time on the island.
