Capital One Café™ Brickell – The Future of Banking

July 17, 2018

Hello friends! Can you believe we are more than half way through 2018? Back in January, I was invited to visit the Capital One Café™ on Miracle Mile to explore a new way of banking. Well, Capital One™ has now opened a new South Florida location and I am so excited to share with you the Capital One Café™ in Brickell!

The Future of Banking is Here!

There is no right way to start making big changes in your life, but I think the best advice I could give is to just DO IT — even if you don’t know exactly what it is you’re doing! Now is as good a time as any to start living the life you want.  If you aren’t sure where to begin, the Capital One Café™ is a great place to brainstorm. If you haven’t had a chance to visit your local Capital One Café™, I highly recommend you do it sooner than later.

Whether you’re interested in saving for a dream vacation, inquiring about a loan for your first home or saving for a wedding, it’s all about creating better financial habits! Capital One™ is here to help you create a solid financial plan — all while helping you stay in control of your wallet.

What is a Capital One Café™?

A Capital One Café™ is a new concept eliminating the traditional banking experience and offering Cafés with real perks, for everyone, including non customers. At the cafés, you can get answers to questions and manage your finances in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. There are communal tables, meeting rooms that anyone can reserve, free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and ATMs that are fee-free for everyone, not just for cardholders. The Capital One Café™ Brickell has partnered with Peet’s Coffee, a national coffee chain, and local bakeries like Zak The Baker to serve up delicious pastries. If you’re a Capital One cardholder, you even get 50% off your drink order.

You might be thinking to yourself, “How is this all free even if I’m not a Capital One cardholder?”, well that’s because Capital One™ is all about giving back to the community. The café is a way to connect individuals in a relaxed and stress-free environment. To do that, they have redesigned the banking experience. That means making things really simple and straightforward.

Where Can I Find a Capital One Café™?

Currently, you can find Capital One Café™ in over 20 different cities throughout the United States. Plans are underway to also open cafés in other cities in 2019. If you live in South Florida, you can find cafés in West Palm Beach, Delray Beach and Miami.

The new Miami Capital One Café™ is located in Brickell, the city’s financial center, where business towers and luxury condos tower over Biscayne Bay. You will find rooftop bars, upscale restaurants, art galleries and fashionable boutiques in the nearby Brickell City Centre. The Capital One™ Brickell Café is a great location to cater to the banking and business crowd. While I was there I also noticed many young professionals and students from the local Universities utilizing the café work nooks and conference rooms. If you blog on the road, this is the perfect space to stop, write and have a cup of coffee. I always need a place to blog because blogging at home…well, let’s be honest: I end up watching Netflix 90% of the time I am supposed to be blogging, so that doesn’t work.

How Capital One Cafés™ Helped Me Save Money For Travel

Many people ask me how I afford to travel so often. They ask how I save for it and how I pay for it. I’m not a full time traveler and I don’t travel for business. I haven’t won the lottery (yet), and I don’t come from money. I’m just a girl who loves to travel as often as possible. I spend most of my days in Miami working a full time job, yet I’m able to incorporate plenty of travel into my lifestyle. Everyone loves to travel, but most people don’t think they can afford it. I used to think the same way, until I started speaking with a friendly ambassador at the Capital One Café™.

Let’s talk money! Capital One™ holds money coaching classes for the community, which are free of charge, and help uncover what’s weighing you down so you can reach your goals.

While there are many ways to budget, not surprisingly, one of the best things you can do is save money. This can be a lot more difficult than it sounds. We all end up having unexpected expenses, bills to pay, and we even spend money on little things that eventually add up without us really noticing.

My goal is to visit a new place I have never been at least once a year. I decided to open up a separate savings account, just to save money for my vacations. Every two weeks, my personal checking account automatically transfers a set amount of money into a separate vacation savings account. I barely notice this amount being deducted and it adds up fast. Whether you’re saving to travel like myself, or for a car, soon enough, you’ll have thousands of dollars sitting there and you can splurge on the trip or car of your dreams.

Another way I afford to travel so often is by using my Capital One™ Venture Credit Card. I purchase everything on this credit card so that I can rack up tons of points. I always recommend this card to everyone I know, whether you travel often or not, just because I love it so much. New cardholders, receive a bonus of 50,000 miles, equivalent to $500 in travel once you spend $3000 on purchases within the first three months of signing up. There are zero transaction fees and for every dollar you spend you receive 2 reward miles. Capital One™ even offers up to a $100 credit when you use your card on Global Entry or TSA Precheck. The card has an annual fee of $95 after the first year, but I think it pays for itself. I want to note that it is very important that you’re responsible when using your credit card and not spending more than you can pay each month.

As you can see, I really don’t have any special tricks up my sleeve that make my vacations ridiculously affordable. Sure, I know enough to find some good travel deals but at the end of the day the biggest key to how I afford to travel as often as I do is this: I’ve chosen to make travel a priority! Instead of splurging on a fancy dinner or buying a new outfit every week, I save my money because I rather go to Europe in the Summer. This is something that I learned while spending some time at the Capital One Café™ — What’s holding me back and how can I get to my goal? While our goals may not be the same, I hope I have inspired you to pursue your financial dreams and visit your local Capital One Café™!

My Thoughts on the Capital One Café™ Brickell

The Capital One Café™ in Brickell is a great place to gather for community meetings, money workshops, studying, blogging and much more. You can grab a cup of coffee and say hi to one of the ambassadors or just hang out while you charge your cell phone. Their flexible, open workspaces are great for meetings or just a change of pace. The best part – it’s completely free and there is no reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of the opportunity. One of my favorite things about the Brickell Café is the location. Being in the Mary Brickell Village area puts you pretty much in the heart of downtown Miami. Brickell is an area where you can get around on foot very easily, so if you live downtown you can walk to the Café from your apartment, which is pretty awesome.

It seems communities are enjoying their local Capital One Cafés™ as they are popping up all over the country. They’re clearly working! People are coming in to see what it’s all about and talk money. We all have our own goals and you can achieve your goals with the help of Capital One™. The better you are with your money, the more you can save for traveling or any other future financial goals. All in all, pretttttty genius of Capital One™ to create these new banking cafés all over the country. For me, it’s simple — Capital One™: Making Travel Possible! Cheers to that!
